The speed
of Internet file transfers is dependent on several factors: your
connection, Internet traffic, and the load on the web server.
The fastest rate that you can upload
files is determined by your connection. If you connect with a
56.6 Kbps modem, the contents of one floppy disk will take close
to 5 minutes for upload. A 33.6 Kbps modem, will take about 10
minutes to upload the same file while a 28.8 Kbps modem can take
20 minutes. Even with a 56.6 Kbps modem, phone line "noise"
will often reduce your connect rate, and thus increase the download
time.
If you are uploading multiple files, place the
files in a folder and utilize compression utilities such as WinZip
for the PC and Stuffit for the MAC to reduce file size and protect
the integrity of your file.
NOTE: Do not upload your file using a
file name with non-character formatting (empty spaces, dashes,
etc).
